Welcome to the Chandler PTA website! We are very excited to be able to provide information to you in this manner and hope that you find the site useful.
The goal of the Chandler PTA is to support the efforts of our teachers and staff as they foster the academic and social development of our children. We aim to provide funding, people power and general support wherever we can. Through fun, family oriented programs and events we are able to involve our Chandler community and raise funds at the same time.
The Chandler PTA is also the voice of parents. We represent and communicate your ideas, comments and concerns to our administrators and enable the open lines of communication so vital to the success of all.
We hope you will consider joining our membership and giving whatever time you may have. It is a wonderful opportunity to see first hand how your involvement can directly benefit our school. Please click here for a membership form. Thanks!

As the end of the school year nears...so does the two-year term of our outgoing Chandler PTA President, Heather Fiedler. Please click here to read her personal message to all Chandler parents, teachers, and staff. On behalf of everyone who benefited from Heather's dedication.... "THANK YOU, Heather!"
Honoring Superintendent Skeiber...Please join community members and leaders at a reception honoring Superintendent Sue Skeiber for her many years of dedicated service to the students and families of the Duxbury Public Schools. Wednesday, June 23rd, 4:30 to 6:00 pm. Performing Arts Center lobby. Light refreshments will be served. The event will be hosted by the Chandler, Alden & Middle School PTAs and High School PTO.
Year End Fund Allocations...As the school year comes to a close, so does the fiscal year of the Chandler PTA. This year, we are happy to report that we exceeded our budget plans and were able to appropriate funds for items not originally in our budget. At the last PTA meeting on June 3rd, it was voted to allocate the additional funds to: purchase an AED (automatic external defibrillator used to restart a stopped heart beat) machine and case to be kept in the nurse’s office, purchase corkboards for room 303 to avoid damage to the walls, make a donation through the Grant a Wish program to support the Emergent Reader Library, purchase/replace Chandler banners, make a donation to the Weather Bug initiative and set aside funding to aid in the building of a brick walkway around the flag pole in front of Chandler. None of this would have been possible without the continued support of our great Chandler families – thank you
Paving the Way to Chandler..BUY A BRICK!In an effort to spruce up the front of Chandler, the CPTA will embark on a “Buy a Brick” campaign this week. For $100 per brick, families will be able to purchase a brick and have it custom engraved before it is laid in a pattern surrounding the flag pole. This is a wonderful way to mark the “graduation” of your Chandler student, honor a favorite teacher or staff member or even help get your incoming kindergartener excited about beginning their career at Chandler. A limited number of bricks will be sold. Click here for an order form. Order forms will be going home in backpacks this week as well. Questions may be directed to Gretchen Weisslinger at rgweisslinger@netzero.com.
Looking for stuff to do this summer?
Reflections, the PTA’s annual creative arts contest will be held in the fall next year. Have your student give some thought to how he/she can best exemplify the theme, “Together We Can” through writing, photography, drawing or music.
Incoming 3rd graders may want to check out the work of Author in Residence Barbara O’Connor who will be at Alden next February. Having read her books in advance will certainly make her visit more meaningful.

The Grant a Wish website is LIVE! The Grant a Wish program, a collaborative fundraising effort between the Alden and Chandler Schools PTAs, is quickly approaching the end of its first academic year and the results thus far have been encouraging. The Grant a Wish program is a collaborative fundraising initiative among the Alden and Chandler PTAs, each school’s administration and the two School Councils. It is a unique opportunity for families and the entire community to assist our teachers and staff in providing the tools they need to make our children’s classroom experience exceptional. The Grant a Wish program enables donors to know exactly how their funds are being spent and allows each donor to select a project or projects to support. The donations have been steadily coming in and we are happy to announce that one wish has been completely funded already, while many of the others have received partial funding. The Grant a Wish website lists all the items and programs that require funding before they can be purchased or instituted in the classroom. Wishes range from special levers and handles for the Special Education team to projectors to author workshops to develop writing skills. Descriptions and benefits of each wish are listed on the site for everyone’s review.
Please visit the Grant a Wish website to see what innovative programs need our funding in order to be implemented in our classrooms. Donations are also being accepted by check through the mail for those without internet access. Questions may be directed to Chandler PTA President Heather Fiedler at heatherfiedler@aol.com or Alden PTA President Patty Roberts at proberts@ix.netcom.com. As with all PTA fundraising efforts, participation in the Grant a Wish program is strictly voluntary. For more information, click here to see attached document.
